Information	Urban design proposal for an abandoned industrial site close to the Ramlösa trainstation in Helsingborg Sweden. The site is located in a "pit", which was created when infrastructure along the freeway was built, with poor connections to its surroundings. The area is also heavily polluted with noise and not normally fit for residential development. To solve the issue with connectivity, the ground is elevated about 3m to create a new public space, adjacent to the trainstation, which is at the same level as the surrounding infrastructure. In this way it becomes possible to move freely between the residential area and the trainstation. A parking garage is located underneath the newly built ground level. To solve the issue of noise pollution the new block is shaped like a closed ring to to create a quiet courtyard in the middle with sleeping rooms located towards the quiet side . The individual buildings around the block all have different hights as a way to react to the different noise pollution levels and to optimize the amount of sunlight into the communal courtyard.

Render of the new public square. The new parking garage is located underneath the street level. The ground has been raised about three meters to put the new block on the same level as the existing streets.

Render of the block from south east. The houses are taller towards the infrastructure to provide shelter from noise and to take advantage of the excellent views of the surrounding area. The communal courtyard in the middle is protected from noise pollution and the appartments on the ground floor have access to a private garden in directly in front of the house.

The area was first seemed unfit for the development due to the high noise pollution levels, but by creating a closed block it is possible to seal off the courtyard from the noise and create a "quite" back. Sleeping rooms towards the courtyard and livingspaces towards the outside. The form of the shape was generated through a diagrammatic analysis of safety distances from the infrastructure as well as keeping the distance from "Landborgen", which is a topographic element important to the city.
