Location | Hyllinge, Åstorps Kommun, Sweden |
Date | 2019-2020 |
Information | Hyllinge is located just outside the city of Helsingborg in Southern Sweden. Part of the area was previously used for industrial purposes and mining, but since the industry was shut down the surrounding landscape is dominated by large power lines. To motivate the large investment in moving the powerline to a new location the urban study aims at more than doubling the amount of residential units per hectare in comparison to other more conventional suburban projects. The plan illustrates a proposal which allows for between 1000-1500 residential units, which will almost double the amount of residents in the existing town but on a much smaller surface area. To be able to raise the density the blocks are mixed between single- and multi residential units and there is a high degree of row houses with smaller footprints than conventional suburban housing. The density is not distributed evenly across the whole area but ranges from a low density close to the outskirts to a higher density closer to the town centre and nodes of public transport. |
